Calder Cup at Norfolk details

Four MCT teams in four finals. George Austin joined at the bonspiel and went on to play in the first event final. Walter Baggett lost his first game and then won the next two to get to the second event final. Jason Valetutto lost his second game and then won out to get to the third event final. Tim Brooks lost the first event semi and went to the fourth event.

Tim and Jason both won the event finals for 100 points and George and Walter lost the finals for 50 and 25 points respectively.

Terry Smith and Nick Tyner teams also earned points by winning games. Tony Steiert did not garner any points.

A very successful first event on the GNCC MCT. The Norfolk organizers where very pleased with the turnout and have already pleaded to be included next year.

Next up on the schedule is the Governor's Bowl in Albany and the National Club Playdowns at Broomstones. I hope to be at Broomstones and will see some of you there.

(editted to add) Yes, as I have been reminded. The Tour Chair, yours truly, did in fact lose to Walter Baggett. However, it was not a tour team so I am invoking executive priviledge and ruling that is does not count as a "snow roll".

Calder Cup at Norfolk finals

A quick update with a more complete post to follow.

One additional team signed up at Norfolk. The George Austin lead team of NY Caledonians.

Each of the finals had a MCT team in them. Two winners and two runner-ups.

Leading the way in points is Team Austin at 350 with Team Brooks close behind with 300. All teams except for Team Steiert earned points at the bonspiel.

Look for updated team listing and complete points listing on the GNCC website when I get to it.

With the addition of Team Austin the prize pool is now at $3150.

Another team has joined

A new team has signed up for the MCT and will be playing in Norfolk. That makes 6 teams at the Calder.

Jason Valetutto had better be a little careful as he may be subjected to the "DBR" this weekend.

DBR - rolling in the snow naked twice

Yes, Walter Baggett has joined the MCT. Jason will have the original rule in place being a Plainfield skip and then the new MCT Baggett rule which hasn't quite been fleshed out yet.

See you all there tomorrow.
